Crucial Safety Precautions

Carefully review and adhere to all instructions and cautions to minimize the chance of severe injury or fatality! Retain these cautions and instructions for later use.

Use Precautions

WARNING: Prior to using your plunger or chiller, ensure the water temperature is checked with a reliable thermometer. Temperature control devices may fluctuate by as much as +/-2°C (5°F).

WARNING: Exercise care when stepping into or out of your plunge to lessen the likelihood of injury.

WARNING: Individuals with diminished physical, sensory, or cognitive abilities, or those lacking familiarity or understanding, should only use your plunge with oversight.

WARNING: Avoid using your plunge if you have a contagious illness.

WARNING: If you’re pregnant or suspect you might be, or if you have conditions such as obesity, heart issues, blood pressure irregularities, circulatory challenges, or diabetes, seek medical advice before use.

WARNING: Consult a doctor before use if you’re on medications that could cause sleepiness or alter heart rate, blood pressure, or circulation.

DANGER: Cold water immersion can trigger hypothermia, which can be fatal. Cease use immediately and dial 911 if you notice symptoms like intense shivering, lethargy, slurred speech, clumsy movements, stiff muscles, bluish skin, or an irregular pulse. See further details on hypothermia below.

DANGER: Extended time in your plunge may heighten hypothermia risks.

DANGER: Abrupt entry into cold water might cause a cold shock response, potentially leading to panic, breathing difficulties, reduced mental clarity, or shifts in heart rate and blood pressure. Use your plunge with someone present until you understand your body’s reaction.

DANGER: Avoid consuming alcohol or drugs prior to or while using your plunge. Such substances can significantly elevate the chances of deadly hypothermia, unconsciousness, or drowning.

DANGER: Entrapment and drowning hazards exist. The suction fittings in your plunge are designed for the pump’s specific flow rate. If replacement of fittings or the pump is necessary, ensure compatibility of flow rates. Never use your plunge if suction fittings are damaged or absent. Contact the manufacturer for replacement parts.

DANGER: To prevent drowning, restrict access to your plunge by children under 18 unless approved by a healthcare provider and constantly supervised.

DANGER: Drowning hazard. Keep children and pets away from your plunge. Secure the cover with straps and clips when not in use, though it may not fully block access in all situations. It’s your duty as the owner to ensure children and pets can’t reach your plunge. Prohibit kids from playing around, on, or with your plunge.

DANGER: Injury risk. Leaping or diving into your plunge could lead to severe or life-threatening harm.

DANGER: Always keep children away from the chiller at all times. Always keep fingers and hands away from electrical or moving parts to prevent the risk of serious injury or electrocution.

Electrical Safety

WARNING: All electrical connections (unless cords with built-in GFCI are provided) must be handled by a certified electrician.

WARNING: Activating power to your plunge before it’s filled to the necessary level can damage the pump instantly and void the warranty!

WARNING: The power cord must be disconnected if and when the chiller cover is removed.  The cover should only be removed for troubleshooting purposes by a qualified technician.  Power should only be restored once the cover is installed.

WARNING: Tampering with or removing the Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter breaker will render your plunge unsafe and nullify its warranty.

DANGER: Electric shock risk. Keep your plunge at least 1.5 meters (5 feet) from all electrical outlets and devices.

DANGER: Avoid placing any electrical items like lights, radios, or TVs within 1.5 meters (5 feet) of your plunge to prevent electric shock.

DANGER: Only plug your chiller into a dedicated 120V 15A 2-wire plus ground service outlet.  The term “dedicated” means that the electrical circuit for the chiller and plunge is not being used for any other electrical items.  The electrical supply for this product must include a suitable 15A circuit breaker. The plug must be readily accessible and visible to the plunge occupant but installed at least 1.5 meters (5 feet), from the plunge water.

WARNING This product is provided with ground-fault circuit interrupters located on the 120 volt power cord or built into the chiller itself. The GFCI must be tested before each use.

To test, push the test button on the GFCI. The product should not operate. Now push the reset button on the GFCI. The product should now operate normally. When the product fails to operate in this manner, there is a ground current flowing indicating the possibility of an electric shock. Disconnect the power until the fault has been identified and corrected.

WARNING: Your chiller and plunge must be wired in accordance with all applicable local electrical codes. All electrical work should be done by an experienced, licensed electrician and approved by a local building/ electrical inspection authority. We recommend the use of appropriate electrical conduit, fittings and wire for all circuits.

WARNING: Unless you are qualified and knowledgeable to work with the electrical products and its components, do not service this product yourself. Opening or removing the cover may expose you to dangerous voltage or other hazards. If you are not experienced with home power, wiring, electrical components and troubleshooting; contact a qualified service technician. If the power supply cord is damaged, or there are signs of other potentially hazardous damage to the unit, turn off the circuit breaker from the wall and refer servicing to qualified personnel.

Installation and Maintenance Guidelines

CAUTION: Follow the manual’s instructions to maintain proper water chemistry. Incorrect chemistry may irritate skin or harm your plunge.

Foundation: Ensure a sturdy foundation wherever you place your plunge.

Deck Setup: Verify your deck’s load capacity with a qualified contractor or structural engineer before placing your plunge. The structure must support at least 1,000 lbs (your plunge plus water) without exceeding its rated capacity, or severe damage could occur.

Flooring: Confirm that the flooring beneath your plunge is waterproof or water-resistant to avoid damage.

Key Hypothermia Information

Extended exposure to cold water can lead to hypothermia. While keeping warm is vital, cooling off is equally necessary. However, in some conditions, our bodies cool excessively.

When internal temperatures fall to 95 degrees or below, hypothermia sets in. Our bodies lose heat through conduction, convection, radiation, and evaporation—processes that normally maintain healthy temperatures but also explain hypothermia’s onset. If warming responses like shivering can’t counter the cooling, hypothermia may develop. Watch for signs across its stages: Mild hypothermia includes shivering, goosebumps, and trouble with complex tasks; moderate hypothermia brings intense shivering, sluggishness, speech issues, and fine motor difficulties; severe hypothermia features stiff muscles, confusion, ceased shivering, blue skin, irregular heartbeat, and unconsciousness.
